Dear H/C Creator,

Hi, thanks for signing up (or volunteering to be a pitch hitter)! Hurt/Comfort is one of my favorite tropes to explore for my favorite characters and ships. It's my first time signing up for this exchange and I'm looking forward to it. This letter is meant to be an overview of the things I like, and aside from my DNWs, it's 100% optional. Since it's the most relevant to this exchange, I have a list of H/C likes in my genre-related likes and dark likes sections if you're curious.

Although my requests are for fic, I am very much open to art treats for all fandoms/pairings! Some of my requests and prompts might be short but please note that I want them just as much as my longer requests. Don't worry about fitting my prompts exactly in any of my requests as I welcome different ideas with my requested pairings. I'm open to fic rated from G to E. In terms of fic length, I love anything from the small to long epics. For all of my requests, feel free to mix up the freeforms or prompts as you wish.

I like all kinds of genres and tone! Exploring emotions in narratives is a big draw for me, be it about dark themes or more lighthearted themes.

I love seeing how characters view the world around them and how they interact with others, positive or negative. Plotty fic would be great but I'm also just as happy with more introspective stories.

Smut Likes

As far as sex goes in general, I like any combination of anal, oral, rimming (for m/m), vaginal sex, breast/nipple play, handjobs, and fingering (in no particular order). I also enjoy slightly unrealistic sex. Sex that's unrealistic in terms of how much a character can come, how fast they can get it up, and handwaving that because it's magic/superpowers/alien biology is perfectly fine with me.

For vocabulary, I generally enjoy more explicit terms than flowery language and prefer "come" over "cum". Unless specified, I have no preferences about top/bottom dynamics. When it comes to smut, I love seeing focus on the emotions between characters, what the sex means for them, or general intense feelings.

General Smut Likes:

Clothing — Clothes being ripped/torn or rumpled ○ Clothed/naked sex ○ Removing clothing just enough to access what they want ○ Both parties staying clothed (or partially-clothed) during sex and attention to it ○ Focus on suits, uniforms, gloves, stockings, etc. ○ Characters undressing and dressing up ○ Sharing clothes (by accident or on purpose) ○ Using clothing as a gag or way to tie someone up ○ Immaculate characters becoming disheveled; messy characters dressing up for an occasion ○ Choosing clothes for partner as kink/foreplay

Overview — This is more geared towards mutual feelings dubcon (of the sex pollen, something makes them do it, or accidentally sleeping with each other type with no intentional aggressor) between a ship (feel free to draw from my darker consent issues likes as well as long as feelings are present). Anything in my above smut likes list is also free game.

Outside Forces — Sex pollen (one or both parties are affected) ○ Something Made Them Do It ○ Heat sex

Mutual Dubcon Feelings — Pining from both characters, reveal of feelings, or the dubcon being the catalyst of feelings realization ○ Guilty feelings (for not being able to resist the outside force; that they're enjoying it) ○ Wanted it but not like this

Characters Interacting — Any kind of emphasis on touch between two characters ○ For friendships or couples: Standing near each other, hugging, holding hands, etc. ○ For couples: kissing each other (on mouth, on forehead, on the hand, etc.), blushing in each other's presence, staring into each other's eyes (in a romantic way or in a UST way) ○ Alternatively, scenes of characters looking at each other from across a room or a sense of space being between them (I can see this being great for art with a sadder tone or as the beginning of a new relationship, just throwing out ideas).

Smutty Ideas — You can use anything in my smut likes section! ○ Clothing in disarray, torn, half taken off, etc. ○ Biting/marks ○ One character being bent over a desk or another easy to access surface for sex ○ Displays of UST (a hand on someone's thigh, the characters being pressed up against each other while clothed, characters looking like they want to have sex with each other but are in a public place) ○ Semi-public sex (sex in a library, a character's work space, in a closet, etc.) ○ One concept I always like seeing is when the sex is only implied (such as a character's hands are on another character's wrists on a table with identifying clothing details in frame but we don't see their faces)

What I’d like to see in fic: I just recently finished reading this book series and I adored it. I loved the setting, the hint of the supernatural that might or might not be real, the cast of characters, and the many cases that Frey and McGray go on.

For their relationship in specific, I love the slow burn antagonistic coworkers to grudging friends arc they go on over the course of several books. They're incredibly shippy to me with how they're both competent assholes who have soft spots for their cherished family members. I really enjoyed all of their banter with each other and the fact that they have all kinds of differences while still somehow managing to be a pretty great team.

H/C notes: For Hurt/Comfort in general, I'd love seeing them working through their issues. They both have plenty of tragic experiences and maybe they could grow a little closer. I'd enjoy almost any kind of hurt, from one of them getting shot and/or stabbed or dealing with the death of their family members and anything in-between.

Pining would be amazing, from them being annoyed that they're attracted to the other, to assuming that the other doesn't feel that way for them, and so on. Getting together is certainly not required but I'd enjoy at least a hint that they might get together in the future. And if they do get together, smut is highly welcomed but I'd be just as happy with a get together that doesn't involve smut.

Smut notes: In case you're interested in writing smut some of the things I like for them is: their canon size difference, McGray calling Frey "lassie" and similar things, general banter, Frey being repressed in general and being overwhelmed with having sex with McGray for the first time, McGray having body hair, and having moments of tenderness and vulnerability with each other. I would enjoy either of them bottoming and would be open to switching between them!

A note on timeline: I have a general preference for the first three books to go as they did (unless prompted otherwise), but beyond that, you can do what you want with canon! For specific books to touch on (if you're inclined), the fourth and sixth book seem ripe for all kinds of H/C.

A note on other characters and ships: You can include any character you'd like. I especially enjoy Pansy, Caroline, Elgie, and Marice as characters but the whole cast is enjoyable to read about for me.

As far as shipping goes, I'm fine with both McGray and Frey having flings or relationships with random people before getting together just as long as those relationships are in the past once they do get together as a couple.

Fic Prompts:

Frey and McGray run into something undeniably supernatural for once but things quickly take a turn for the dangerous. Any monster or possible magic would work for me (it could be demons, werewolves, ghosts, etc.) and I'd enjoy seeing how they'd react to such a situation (especially with Frey being so anti-supernatural)!

Either of them being physically whumped and getting beaten up by bad guys. Maybe one of them gets shot and the other panics trying to get them help, or maybe one of them is stabbed and Frey has to use what he remembers of his medical knowledge to try and help himself and/or McGray.

Frey and/or McGray dealing with insomnia and nightmares. Maybe they're in a There's Only One Bed situation and that's how the other gets a personal view of them having nightmares or one of them works to the point of collapsing from exhaustion and they're concerned in a prickly way.

Anything at all relating to Frey dealing with his grief with losing his uncle or McGray dealing with his parents being dead and Pansy being ill. Does McGray try to help out Frey with his grief or does Frey listen to McGray bring up his past while they're having a drink together?

Either sacrificing themselves to save the other! Or maybe they're convinced that help isn't coming and are surprised by the other showing up at the last minute. Or even something involving one of them thinking that it's only logical that they're sacrificed for some greater good but it turns out the other person isn't willing to do that. I'd love to see Frey and McGray reacting to that and how that might change their relationship.

Cuddling/Affection Starved: I'd love to see physical comfort for both of them in general. Maybe one finally has an emotional outburst that causes the other to try and physically comfort them, or they're a bit tipsy and decide to not move away when they fall against each other, or they need to tend to the other's wound and end up touching them more than intended.

Sentinels & Guides AU: This is one of my favorite AUs and I'd love to see either one of them needing help as a Sentinel and then finding out that the other person is their Guide. Please feel free to use any trope associated with this AU (animal guides, bonding, heightened senses, etc.).

Bad Guys Made Them Do It/Fuck-or-Die: I'm super into this sort of trope when it comes to these two emotionally repressed men. The fuck or die could also be because of magic, somehow, if you want to do something not involving bad guys. The sex being rougher than they'd like, the situation being emotionally not ideal because of being forced into it, trying to give each other emotional comfort, guilt over enjoying it, the reveal that the other person would like to have sex with them again, etc. is all great.

Carrying/Catching Character: McGray carrying/catching Frey is what first came to mind but I would also like to see Frey trying to carry McGray to safety.

Injured Hands: Either of them having injured hands would be interesting! I'd prefer handwaving bathroom issues but I'd love to see them touching the other more than strictly necessary, the injured character enjoying their closeness, help with shaving or dressing, and similar things in that vein would be great.

Telepathically Linked: I'd get a kick out of seeing Frey realizing that he really is linked to McGray and the two of them grudgingly dealing with that.

Emotionally Repressed Character Feels too Much: Please feel free to lean into Frey being a mess with his emotions and trying to repress things!

Internalized Homophobia: I think Frey would be a great candidate for this tag! I can easily see him having a "had a few meaningless flings with men back in the day and having sex with McGray Doesn't Mean Anything (until it does, oh no)" stance on things to being so repressed that he has no idea he even likes men and takes forever to grudgingly admit that he finds McGray attractive. I'd especially love anything involving him having hang ups when it comes to sex and/or romance and then realizing that he genuinely enjoys that.

What I’d like to see in fic: I love how much these two care for each other and how, in my eyes, they're ultimately a positive force for each others lives. They have a lot in common with being superheros and having a shared love of science despite their age difference. They balance each other out in many situations and I adore when fic puts that on display.

H/C notes: For hurt/comfort in particular, I would love all kinds of hurt. I think they have tons of potential for angst and pining. They don't have to explicitly get together in the fic itself but I would enjoy a hint that they could get together in the future. Of course, if they do get together, it doesn't have to be smut.

Smut notes: If you do want to write smut, some smut tropes that I like for P/T is: Peter calling Tony "Mr. Stark" or calling him Tony for the first time, Peter being sensitive, Tony kinking on Peter's strength, praise kink (for Peter), Peter being able to have multiple orgasms and having tons of stamina, Peter being eager for sex and Tony showing off his experience, and Tony resisting hooking up with Peter until Peter makes a move or Tony reveals his feelings in a moment of weakness. I have a slight preference for Peter bottoming but I also like the idea of Peter trying out topping for the first time and I also like switching!

All the pining — Tony thinks he’s not good enough for Peter or vice versa, they think that the other would never be interested in them romantically, both laugh off the idea of being together or agree that it’s best not to go there but can’t stop considering the thought, guilty attraction, they try to work out their feelings having sex with random people before getting together, dealing with jealousy when the other is dating around or is having people flirt at them, etc.

For physical H/C, I'd love anything involving them getting beat up by bad guys, getting kidnapped, and whump in general as long as there's comfort at the end.

Unimportant Hookup: One of them is under the impression that their sexual relationship is nothing but a casual fling or rebound, or maybe they're in a FWB situation and they're mutually pining without realizing it's requited. I'd like for there to be a reveal at some point that they do have feelings for each other but feel free to lean into the angst before the reveal.

Pretending to Betray: I am absolutely here for the hurt and angst of one betraying the other (or appearing to) while trying to save the other. Anything you can think of would be good and I would love it if the betrayed person believed that they were betrayed for at least a little while.

What I’d like to see in fic: I adore Keith and Shiro's devotion towards each other and their long history as friends. They both go through a lot over the course of the show and I'd love to see anything involving Shiro's PTSD, Keith's experience of being an orphan with a bad reputation, both of them getting beat up by bad guys, the two of them trying their best to support each other, and all the pining.

I'd enjoy anything from the fic taking place in a nebulous time where they were piloting the lions and had the castleship before Shiro was transported and replaced with a clone, or involving their time at the Garrison before Shiro went to Kerberos, or post war where their enemies are defeated (or after episode one of s7 and handwaving the rest). I love seeing them have adventures in space and dealing with aliens/magic in particular!

H/C notes: For Hurt/Comfort in general, I'd love seeing pretty much anything involving being hurt from the physical to the emotional. For the comfort, I'd really enjoy seeing some amount of physical comfort or have the two of them talking to each other.

Pining would be amazing, from them hiding their feelings because they assumed that the other never felt that way for them or not being able to find the right time to spit it out, and so on. Getting together is certainly not required but I'd enjoy at least a hint that they might get together in the future. And if they do get together, smut is highly welcomed, but I'd be just as happy with a get together that doesn't involve smut.

Anything with Shiro's year of being the Champion and Keith comforting him about it. Maybe he has PTSD flare ups and Keith finds ways to make Shiro feel better or they mutually comfort each other with their trauma of fighting a war.

I have various tags that have potential for them protecting each other and I would love any variation on that. Have Keith shield Shiro from harm, or Shiro coming to save Keith when he feels like there's no rescue coming, or one of them sacrifices themselves to save the other and they have a lot of feelings to work through in the aftermath.

One of them gets kidnapped and the other is frantic about finding them. I'd love to see Keith (or Shiro) fighting their way past a bunch of bad guys to get to the other and making sure that they're not harmed.

They take a road trip through space together after the war to heal from their trauma or to take their mind off of negative things in their life and mutually pine.

[Garrison Era] Keith is frustrated with how many of his peers are putting him down and Shiro shows up to make him feel better. Or, Shiro vents about wanting to see Kerberos and Keith supports him even if he feels conflicted about him leaving.

Abandonment Issues: My first idea is that this tag fits well with Keith, but I could also see it fitting Shiro. Maybe Shiro realizes that Keith is scared to reach out in their Garrison days? Or maybe Keith talks about the times Shiro was assumed dead and how lost he felt without his best friend? Or on Shiro's side of things, maybe Shiro feels like he might be abandoned if he doesn't work to prove himself as a solider.

Sentinels & Guides AU: This is one of my favorite AUs and I would love to see either one of them be a Sentinel and struggling with their overpowering senses while the other character is a Guide. Please feel free to use any trope associated with this AU (animal guides, bonding, heightened senses, etc.).

Sex Pollen/Something Makes Them Do It: I'm very into the concept of these two pining for each other and refusing to say anything (or maybe they mutually agreed that it would be better not to be in a relationship for the sake of their friendship) until they're forced to have sex. I'm good with both bad guys or magic making them do it. The sex being rougher than they'd like, the situation being emotionally not ideal because of being forced into it, trying to give each other emotional comfort, guilt over enjoying it, the reveal that the other person would like to have sex with them again, etc. is all great.

Crew Worried About Their Sick/Hurt Captain: This is such a Shiro specific tag and I'd love to see Team Voltron show how much they care for Shiro and maybe Keith steps him to do something extra special for him.

Live in Happy Alternate Reality: Both of them have plenty of things that they probably wish never happened and I love to see what their Alternate Reality looks like. Maybe they're stuck in a spell casted by Haggar? Either way, I can see both of them wishing that they were together with the other, and have to make the choice of which world they want to stay in for good.

Wouldn't Sacrifice Them: This happens in canon in S6 and I'd love to see anything between the two of them talking it out about that, or maybe a different situation comes up where Shiro isn't willing to give Keith up for a mission and Keith reacts.

Trapped Somewhere: Maybe their lions are damaged from a fight and they have no way of contacting the rest of the team and have to work together to survive until they can be found again. Maybe Shiro and/or Keith is injured and it adds to the urgency even as they grow closer. Or they could even be captured together by the Galra and this time Keith and Shiro are forced to fight in the arena for their amusement before they can be rescued by the rest of the time.

Truth Serum: One of them ends up taking a truth serum (maybe they were forced to do so by bad guys or it was a simple mistake) and they end up revealing more than they meant to. Maybe it's a feelings confession or Keith and/or Shiro admit how much they were hurt by traumatic events in their past.

You don't have to have her show up in the fic if the focus is elsewhere, but please don't confirm her death or not have her show up when it would make sense for her to do so (such as a group meeting with the team or similar). I'm fine with either handwaving the end of S8, bringing her back somehow, or ignoring that part entirely.
